Nelly was arrested and booked on second degree rape charges on Saturday (Oct. 7), after a woman accused him of raping her in the state of Washington, according to TMZ.
Auburn police received a call from a woman at 3:48 a.m. to report that she was sexually assaulted. She claims that the St. Louis rapper, born Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr., raped her on a tour bus following his performance at the White River Amphitheater. He was reportedly booked hours later, around 7 a.m.
Nelly’s lawyer has issued a statement denouncing the rape claim. “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation. Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness,” said his lawyer. “I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
The 42-year-old MC is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line and the jaunt is set to hit Ridgefield, Washington this evening. There is no word on whether this will impact the show or the tour.
