Has Eminem completed his new album?
Yesterday, Slim Shady’s longtime collaborator Denaun Porter opened up about the project on Instagram Live. When asked if he is still working on Marshall Mathers’ highly-anticipated LP, he replied: “No, we’re done. How about that?”
Shortly after making headlines with the news, Mr. Porter denied the legitimacy of his earlier comments by saying that he was simply “trolling the trollers.”
“Anytime they come in there, they can expect to get trolled with any kind of question like that,” he told Complex. “I’m never the person to give up that kind of information. I might say, ‘Hey, we’re working on it’ or ‘Hey, we’re close.’ But I’m never going to be the guy that gives up the information. But they can get trolled.”
Nevertheless, DJ Booth reports that a source within Shady Records revealed that the LP has been “done” for months. “We spoke with a source at Shady Records in August, who confirmed this news,” they tweeted. “It’s actually been done for 3 months.”
Em’s album has been constant fodder for speculation since he first announced it last October with the release of “Campaign Speech.”
Earlier this year, Defiant Ones directer Allen Hughes and 2 Chainz separately confirmed that Eminem was working on a new album. Like Porter, Tity Boi would later walk his comments back, saying that he didn’t “know anything” about it.
When the project arrives, it will be Eminem’s first album release since 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Shady has not issued a release date for the project, but it is expected to land this year. Plus, he is reportedly working on original music for Bodied, the battle rap film he recently produced.
