Joey Bada$$ gives fans a hopeful tour through Brooklyn in the video for “Temptation,” the latest single off his sophomore album All-Amerikkkan Bada$$.
Co-directed by Joey and Nathan Smith, the TIDAL exclusive features a group of children who play with one another in the face of injustice, as black men are harassed on sidewalks. Later, Jozif Badmon and his band get bothered by cops who shut their show down, as well.
Even with all of these negative visuals, Joey finds a way to keep things uplifting in the end. Walking through the city with a little girl, the AABA MC makes sure to preach a positive message on his way to church.
“Lord knows we just trying to live righteous,” he raps. “Are you willin’ just to make the sacrifices? / I know we can’t continue livin’ like this / And I’ll never sell my soul ’cause that’s priceless.”
“Temptation” follows past AABA singles like “Land of the Free” and “Devastated.” Joey is currently on “Everybody’s Tour” with Logic. Up next, he will return to the silver screen in “Mr. Robot” on Oct. 11.
