A-Trak is back. The world renowned DJ has teamed up with Quavo and Lil Yachty for his latest single, “Believe.”
The bouncy tune allows Lil Boat and Q to trade bars. “Look at the rocks, ice in my watch,” raps the Migos MC. “When I’m on the block, I run from the cops / Damn, did I forget to mention / All these racks on me playing tennis / Write my name in the World Guinness / Take ’em back to the beginning.”
As if picking up a baton for the back-and-forth rhyme style, Lil Yachty runs with the verse from there with a few rhymes of his own. “Take ’em to the beginning,” he raps. “Back before I was winning / Back before I had a million / Back when I was car-stealing.”
Live from Café Mambo in Ibiza, A-Trak phoned in to Beats 1 to break down the track, which was recorded last year at Quality Control Studios. “[We] recorded the song hanging out,” he said. “I wanted that to come through in the vibe of the song, that this is a hangout thing, having fun. Even the way that they’re trading lines back and forth. To me, it reminds me of the way that Jadakiss and Styles P used to do it. People don’t do that enough anymore, just trading bars.”
