Hot off her BET Awards performance, Tamar Braxton debuts the dramatic video for her latest single “My Man.” In the black-and-white clip, the R&B songstress finds out that her man is cheating on her, but she’s not about to let him get away with it.
She pulls up to his hotel and barges into the room, where she finds him in bed with another woman. She pulls the girl’s hair and throws her onto the bathroom floor before confronting him about his infidelity.
And before leaving, she grabs her coat (“I’ve been looking for this shit”) and heads back to her car. But it’s not over. The story is set to continue in her next visual.
The heart-wrenching song was inspired by her parents’ tumultuous relationship. “I wanted to be a voice for my mother and say things that she didn’t get to say to both of them when it was all going down,” Tamar told Rap-Up. “I wanted to truly channel her as a woman and not just as my mom, to confront the both of them.”
“My Man” is the first release from Tamar’s upcoming album, due later this summer. “It’s almost like Love and War and Calling All Lovers got together and had a baby,” she said of the project, which will be executive produced by Rodney Jerkins and her husband Vincent Herbert.
