It was all a dream. After decades of possessing an inability to stop, Sean “Diddy” Combs finally releases the first part of his documentary series, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story.
Released exclusively through Apple Music, the 80-minute film showcases his tireless work in building the Bad Boy empire, one of the most influential hip-hop labels of all time. It includes insight about the Notorious B.I.G., Ma$e, Lil’ Kim, Faith Evans, and, of course, Puff Daddy himself, among other Bad Boy figures.
But more than that, the doc is meant to analyze fearlessness and success. “The story really evolved to a point where it wasn’t even just a story about our lives, it was a story about being fearless, about what it takes to get to a point of success,” Diddy told Complex. “That wasn’t the intention going into it, either, but you know, that’s where I’m at. I’m trying to make sure that the things that I do, the things that I show through my art or whatever is gonna have that impact. It’s gonna reaffirm the dream. The truth, at the end of the day, is what kind of makes [the film] something special. Everybody just told the naked truth.”
Still, this is only the beginning, according to Combs. “This is part one of a trilogy,” he said. “It was always an idea in my head that albums and certain lives are gonna actually be filmed live and then made into films. [I knew] that was how history would be told, and from recognizing that at a young age I always planned to [implement that]. Not to be self-serving but just to tell the truth, whether [the story is] good or bad, that’s how it really [happened].”
