Kendrick Lamar doesn’t tweet often, so when he does, the TDE MC makes headlines. On Monday (June 19), the Compton spitter celebrated hip-hop with a State of the Rap Union-like post.

“JAY HALL OF FAME,” he wrote. “NIPSEY MORE BLACK BUSINESS MOVES. LIL MEECH NAILED HIS PAC DEBUT. 2CHAINZ SNAPPIN THE WHOLE ALBUM. RAP RUN IT 4EVER!”

The message paid tribute to different current events in the culture, including JAY-Z’s groundbreaking entrance into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. As the first rapper ever to do that, Hov honored K-Dot and other MCs on the night of the event.

Lamar also applauded the grand opening of Nipsey Hussle’s new Marathon Store in Los Angeles, which took place over the weekend. The Crenshaw MC responded to the message with “Salute King.”

Kung Fu Kenny’s “Lil Meech” reference may have confused some, but it points to Demetrius Shipp Jr.’s nickname. Shipp made his big screen starring debut as Tupac Shakur in the highly-anticipated All Eyez On Me film over the weekend. The actor responded with “That’s love.”

Finally, Kendrick was referring to 2 Chainz’ new album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, which prompted Tity Boi to write back with a simple “Damn right bro!”

Lamar has reason to celebrate himself. All three of his major label albums are currently on the Billboard 200, starting with DAMN. at No. 2, followed by good kid, m.A.A.d. city (71) and To Pimp a Butterfly (153). Meanwhile, “HUMBLE.” (5), “DNA.” (32), “LOVE.” (58), and “LOYALTY.” (74) are all on the Hot 100. Kung Fu Kenny is also gearing up to embark on “The DAMN. Tour” on July 12 in Phoenix.
