Almost exactly one year after releasing There’s Alot Going On, Vic Mensa returns with his four-track EP The Manuscript.

Labeled a “capsule” by the Roc Nation MC, The Manuscript features appearances from Pusha T on the Pharrell-produced “OMG” and Mr Hudson on “Almost There,” with production from Malik Yusef, No I.D. and 1500 or Nothin.

“This shit for little Vic, that 12-year-old kid that only wanna hear that real shit,” raps Mensa on the intro. “This is a thank you letter to all my fans for coming along for the ride with me, we almost there.”

The Manuscript also includes “Rolling Like a Stoner,” which details his ongoing battle with drug addiction: “I am a disaster, I don’t need a recipe / Tried to be sober, that didn’t work for me.”

On the closer “Rage,” Mensa offers an introspective reflection on his life, his hometown of Chicago, and his generation. “I’m tired of waiting,” he raps. “Tired of chasing pills that I’m tired of taking / Tired of court cases, tired of judges / Tired of saying ‘fuck it.'”
