New Music: RL Grime feat. Miguel - 'Stay for It'

  /  06.02.2017

After joining Dua Lipa on “Lost in Your Light,” Miguel teams up with RL Grime on “Stay for It,” the Los Angeles producer/DJ’s newest single.

Over a hard-hitting hypnotic beat that blends and bends genres, Miguel keeps his vocals soothing while crying out for help. “Save me from my pain, replace all my disaster,” he sings. “Believe me, I’m no saint, but I’m learning faster / When you’re by my side, I feel like there’s a way / Don’t you say goodbye.”

The overarching rescue theme carries over throughout the track as Miguel reaches out for some assistance. “Save me from myself ’cause I can’t go much longer,” he sings. “I just need your help while I’m getting stronger / When you’re by my side, I feel like there’s a way / Don’t you say goodbye.”

“Stay for It” arrives just in time for RL’s forthcoming “NOVA Tour,” which is set to kick off Oct. 12 in Vancouver. The run will hit Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Chicago, before coming to an end Nov. 19 in Chandler. To go along with this, RL unleashed a limited edition NOVA zine, which features a conversation with Miguel from their studio session.

Speaking of that recording session, a behind-the-scenes clip from the day can be seen online. It finds RL saying that the song “feels like a perfect marriage” of their sounds. “God damn,” Miguel says of the track. “This last part makes it a fuckin’ record.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Miguel also joined Dua Lipa on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge for a performance of their aforementioned “Lost in Your Light” collaboration. Watch their neon light-filled set below.
