Frank Ocean Responds to Father's $14.5 Million Lawsuit

Frank Ocean is still embroiled in a legal battle with his father Calvin Cooksey.

In February, Cooksey sued Ocean for defamation, citing a Tumblr post in which the singer said his father once called a transgender waitress a “fa**ot.”

Frank has now responded to this lawsuit, saying that his Tumblr post, which was written in the wake of the tragic Orlando shooting, reflects actual events. He is now asking that the court dismiss the case and that his father cover his legal fees, according to TMZ.

“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a fa**ot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” Ocean wrote in the post in question. “That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”

Cooksey said that the Tumblr post damaged his reputation and ruined opportunities he had in film and music. He sued his estranged son for $14.5 million.
