Kendrick Lamar has the No. 1 album in the country with DAMN. and now, its lead single “HUMBLE.” is No. 1 on the Hot 100 too.
This is a special moment for K-Dot, since it marks his first No. 1 as a lead artist on the Billboard chart. It’s his second overall Hot 100 No. 1, following “Bad Blood,” the rapper’s 2015 collaboration with Taylor Swift.
“HUMBLE.” has had quite an interesting three-week journey. It debuted at No. 2, slipped to No. 3, and most recently, it catapulted right up to No. 1, dethroning Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” In order to do this, “HUMBLE.” earned an impressive 67.4 million U.S. streams for the week ending April 20.
That’s not all for Kung Fu Kenny on the Hot 100. His second DAMN. single “DNA.” made its debut on the chart at No. 4 this week. This makes K-Dot the first artist to have two simultaneous top 5 hits on the Hot 100 since Justin Bieber and The Chainsmokers did it in October.
Elsewhere on the chart, Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” falls 2-3, Future’s “Mask Off” jumps 7-5, KYLE’s Lil Yachty-assisted “iSpy” stays strong at No. 6, and Zedd and Alessia Cara hop 14-7 with “Stay.” The Chainsmokers’ Coldplay-assisted “Something Just Like This” dips 5-8, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” leaps 48-9, and Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3” slides 8-10.
Over the weekend, Kendrick Lamar’s official DAMN. numbers came in. The rapper sold a whopping 603,000 equivalent album units, shattering all expectations on its way to top the Billboard 200. Up next, Dot will head out on his “DAMN. Tour” with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M., starting July 12 in Phoenix.
