Watch Khalid's Stripped-Down Performance of 'Angels' & 'Coaster'
Following a surprise street performance, Khalid delivers another acoustic set. This time, he does it for VEVO, as part of the company’s “LIFT: Stripped Session” series.
Performing “Angels” off his debut album American Teen, Khalid heads to a high school gymnasium for what appears to be the aftermath of a dance. With confetti on the floor, Khalid sings the melancholy song with a pianist beside him. “I’ve been seeing angels,” he sings. “In my living room / That have walked the sun / And have slept on the moon.”
The mood gets even darker in the visual for “Coaster,” which finds Khalid under a spotlight on a high school gym’s bleachers. Backed by a guitarist, the rising crooner sings his soulful standout. “I’ll be coasting, roller-coasting through my emotions,” he sings. “I will be coasting, roller-coasting / I’m hoping that you’ll come back to me.”
Earlier this week, Khalid surprised fans at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, where he sang alongside a street performer. He has also collaborated with Alessia Cara on “1-800-273-8255” off Logic’s upcoming album Everybody.
