TDE Reveals 2017 Release Plans

  /  04.04.2017

TDE is eatin’ in 2017. While Kendrick Lamar’s highly-anticipated To Pimp a Butterfly follow-up is likely to drop on Friday (April 7), that isn’t the only TDE project on deck this year.

The label’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, provided some insight into what supporters should be expecting with a recent impromptu Q&A. During that session, Top indicated that SZA, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock are all releasing projects in 2017.

It looks like the order of those albums will start with Kendrick, whose album title has not yet been announced. From there, SZA is slated to release CTRL and ScHoolboy Q is set to drop his Blank Face LP follow-up. At some point after that, Jay Rock is poised to unleash his third album, the follow-up to 2015’s 90059.

What about Kendrick’s forthcoming LP? Top sounds confident that it will live up to expectations. “everytiime he drops its the [album of the year],” he wrote.

Kendrick has previewed his new LP with “The Heart Part 4” and “HUMBLE.” Meanwhile, SZA dropped “Drew Barrymore” last year and ScHoolboy Q has said his new LP will showcase a “different” side of his personality.

In February of 2016, Top posted a whiteboard schedule of “TDE Releases.” Most of those dropped, with the exception of Jay Rock, who was recovering from a motorcycle accident, and SZA, who is still holding onto CTRL. Last year, TDE also dropped two projects from their latest signees: Lance Skiiiwalker and SiR.
