Kevin Gates’ legal issues continue.
After serving five out of six months for battery, the Baton Rouge rapper was slated to be released from Florida’s Polk County Jail a month early on Friday (March 24). However, upon his release, officials uncovered an outstanding weapons warrant.
TMZ reports that Gates will remain in custody until he’s extradited to Illinois to face those weapons charges.
In October, Gates was sentenced to six months in jail for kicking an 18-year-old woman in the face at an August 2015 concert. Gates would later say he was simply kicking “at the hands that were grabbing” him, according to The Ledger.
Last year, Gates’ Islah album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned hits like “2 Phones,” which soared to No. 17 on the Hot 100 and “Really Really,” which reached No. 46.
