Lecrae counts his “Blessings” in the heartwarming video for his Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single.
Filmed in Los Angeles, the Calmatic-directed clip finds Lecrae and Dolla at a family house party, where children are playing in the front yard, while great food is being served in a warm dining room.
Looking through photographs, watching family members — old and young — surround him with love, Lecrae reflects on his everyday “Blessings.”
“For ‘Blessings’ we wanted to do a video that just kind of focused on everyday things we take for granted: family, gatherings, good food, good people, just God being the source of the simple things,” he told HipHopDX. “Just a fun time, a good time, enjoying family, enjoying friends, enjoying people. It’s like going to Big Mama’s house and when you just got that feeling of nostalgia.”
In January, Lecrae spoke with Rap-Up about his plans for the year. “[‘Blessings’] will be the first time we’ve ever had a record marketed or released for radio,” he said. “Usually, we don’t even think about that. We just usually go direct to fans so that will be new territory. We’ll see what happens with that. Then, of course, the album will follow this year. Then, of course, a tour. I also want to get back to doing a lot more writing and speaking and then eventually, be an architect and start helping develop other artists to build their platforms. That’s my ambition and aim. I’ll always be creative, directing or producing, but I’m excited about seeing other young artists get an opportunity to shine.”
