Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is turning into an animated movie.
Production has started on the CGI film, boasting a cast of voice actors that includes Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Breanna Yde, Phil Morris, Laya Hayes, and Keiko Agena.
Aside from being an executive producer with her manager Stella Bulochnikov, Mariah will also be the home entertainment release’s narrator, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on MC’s 2015 children’s book of the same name. Yde will voice a young Mariah who wants a puppy named Princess for Christmas. In order to get her, she has to doggy-sit a handful of a dog named Jack.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of the song to new generations of families,” said Carey.
Since its 1994 release, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has been a holiday staple, annually making its mark on the music world with a spike in sales and streams.
Mariah is currently working on her 14th studio album with the help of Jermaine Dupri. Last month, JD told Rap-Up that the project may include a collaboration with Bryson Tiller along with her YG-assisted single “I Don’t.”
“We got way more records,” said JD. “My thing was to get her to do something that don’t sound like a Mariah Carey record. We did so many records; it’s just trying to give people something different. Something that will be refreshing.”
