Oh, dear! Jidenna revisits a tearjerking childhood film on “Bambi,” the latest single off his long-awaited debut album The Chief.

“To run the jungle, I must be a lion,” he sings. “Or be a cheetah, but neither is fine / Don’t want to hurt my dear love of my life / Bambi, Bambi / My dear, my dear, my dear.”

At the end of the track, Jidenna’s love decides to get married to someone else. “I got the wedding invitation,” he sings. “I’m happy that he wants to make a family / But I can’t promise that I won’t run up in that church screaming your name, Bambi.”

“Bambi” follows “The Let Out” featuring Quavo, yet another track expected to appear on the Wondaland rapper’s forthcoming album. The oft-delayed effort is also expected to include “Chief Don’t Run,” “Little Bit More,” and “Knickers,” which have all previously been released.

The Chief is due Feb. 17.
