Roc Nation’s Casanova invites Young M.A., Fabolous, Dave East, and Don Q to a New York block party on the remix to “Don’t Run.”
“B-R-Double-O-K-L-Y-N,” raps M.A. “It’s Brooklyn, back at it again.” Fabolous adds: “Brooklyn forever,” and delivers a punchline fest.
East, who also hails from New York, references Frank Ocean’s sexuality on his verse: “You Frank Ocean ni**as singing to men / The bouncer know how we rockin’ so we bringin’ ’em in.”
After Cas — who recently signed with Memphis Bleek’s Warehouse/Roc Nation imprint — delivers the infectiously rowdy hook, Don closes out the track. “Ni**as can try to throw dirt if they want / But every rhyme that you hear me be the verse of the month.”
The original “Don’t Run” has become a street anthem and was even used in an adidas Skateboarding/Hardies Hardware ad.
