Migos and Travis Scott are out to make fans sing like “Kelly Price” on their new collaboration off the Atlanta trio’s new album Culture.
The syrupy track is a journey through a wild ride, where drugs and ice are aplenty. “She gon’ eat this molly like it’s rice,” raps Quavo. “I’ma let that lean flow through my ice / Said she never had a Migo night / I’ma make her sing like Kelly Price.”
La Flame takes the baton and brags about his foreign rides, skrr-skrrting through the track with some of his own drug-fueled imagery. “Treat my Lambo like a Fisher Price,” he raps. “I can never let her spend the night / Woke up, cocaine all in my hair, thought it was lice.”
Kelly Price may not be on the song, but she seemed flattered to hear the reference to her singing skills. “Shout out to #Migos and congrats on the release of their new project #Culture,” she wrote on Instagram. “The track #KellyPrice is named after a pretty nice lady! Lol… The earliest days of my music career are rooted in hip-hop and I consider it an honor to be acknowledged by the new generation of hip0hop creative geniuses. Just downloaded my copy from @itunes.”
The trio of Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset are having a big week. In addition to releasing Culture, their Lil Uzi Vert-assisted single “Bad and Boujee” returned to No. 1 on the Hot 100 and they hosted a “Culture Class” at NYU. On top of all that, a petition is circulating that asks the NFL to replace Lady Gaga with the trio at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
