Joey Bada$$ delivers a politically-charged new freestyle just one day ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Delivered exclusively for GQ at what appears to be a photo shoot, the Brooklyn-born rhymer reflects on race, class, and freedom while his lyrics and art flash across the screen.
“What’s freedom to you?” he asks. “Let’s talk about it / Think it through / ‘Cause I’m all about it / But the concept seems new / Cops will still shoot us down on channel 5 news / Lock us up for anything we do to pay dues.”
It’s unclear whether the freestyle is part of a new song, but new music is certainly on the way. Tomorrow, Badmon is set to release his latest single, “Land of the Free,” on his 22nd birthday.

Yesterday, Joey says he was unable to perform at Yams Day, where artists like The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, the Creator celebrated A$AP Yams.
“To my people who may have came to YAMS DAY to see me, sorry for the inconvenience but security wouldn’t let me in the building,” he tweeted. “Out my hands.”
Moving forward, the Pro Era spitter is also likely planning to drop his next project in 2017. Last year, he spoke with Rap-Up about his plans for new music and his new mission. “People will definitely feel an elevated, evolved Joey,” he said, when asked about his B4.DA.$$ follow-up. “It’s gonna be way more high energy, high performance. I’m really just gonna speak for my generation.”
