Move over, DJ Khaled. Royce 5’9 has a major key alert of his own. The Detroit spitter has unleashed a remix to Khaled’s Jay Z and Future-assisted “I Got the Keys” single off Major Key.
Over the Jake One, G Koop, and Southside-produced instrumental, Nickel goes in with references to Kanye West, Donald Glover, and Migos.
“I got skeletons in my closet that could do the ‘Famous’ video with Kanye,” he raps. “My status loony / Ni**a, I love my chrome, my Mac, and Uzi / More than Donald Glover love that song ‘Bad and Boujee.'”
Royce announced the release with a tweet: “Keys Freestyle, just because I’m having fun,” he wrote. “Happy MLK Day.”
The “Keys” freestyle follows the Bad Meets Evil MC’s remix to PHresher’s “Wait a Minute,” on which he warned rappers about his 2017 plans: “This the traumatize-your-favorite-rapper year.”
Both tracks follow a productive 2016 for Royce. Last year, he released his Tabernacle: Trust the Shooter mixtape and Layers album.
