Wale keeps runnin’ back with new music. The latest is the sports-themed anthem, “Heisman Watch.”
Following releases like “Groundhog Day,” “Folarin Like,” and “Black is Gold,” the MMG MC delivers a new banger filled with his love of sports through references to Allen Iverson, Bo Jackson, Tim Duncan, the late Joe McKnight, and more.
Wale has often referenced sports in his music, but “Heisman Watch” takes things even further as every line makes a nod to a sports figure, be it athlete, journalist, or coach.
Not all of the references are positive, however. Wale also references Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse scandal at Penn State in his rhymes. “Fuckin’ dusty lookin’ Sanduskys could never touch the kid,” he raps.
The string of new Folarin releases adds to the anticipation for his next full-length project, S.H.I.N.E. The follow-up to last year’s The Album About Nothing is expected to arrive in 2017.
