Jaden Smith takes things Back to the Future in the video for “Fallen.”
Time traveling to Calabasas in 1867, the 18-year-old star finds himself playing “Syre” in a ghost town wearing Marty McFly’s Nike Air Mags. With his friend Harry Hudson playing Sheriff Harry, Jaden can’t seem to shake a sickness.
Coughing, throwing up liquid, and dancing through it all, Jaden also appears at the top a mountain, playing Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon on vinyl as the sun sets in pink and light blue hues.
This would explain why Cudder — who recently had Jaden and Willow Smith appear in his “Surfin'” video — premiered “Fallen” on Twitter.
“Arrrgghhhhhhhh,” he tweeted. “I am honored to debut the epic visuals for my lil bro Jaden’s new jam ‘FALLEN’. WATCH and FLY!”
“Take me to the truth,” sings Jaden. “Take me home with you / Change my taste and views / I’m fallen, make me rise with you.”
Co-directed by Jaden and Miles Cable, the video also promotes Syre “coming soon.” This is a reference to Jaden’s character in “Fallen” and to his real name: Jaden Christopher Syre Smith. It’s unclear whether Syre is a new album, film, or short visual project.
While we wait, watch “Fallen” below.
