The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar join forces on “Sidewalks,” a standout cut from the Canadian crooner’s new album Starboy.
“Sidewalks saved my life,” sings Abel. “They don’t ever lie / Sidewalks saved my life / They showed me all the signs.”
Kendrick follows with a verse about innocence, intimacy, and fame. “She wanna hang with a Starboy,” rhymes K-Dot. “The sun and the moon and stars, boy / Astronomer, anonymous / I line ’em up, grind ’em up.”
Recently, the XO singer spoke about his Kendrick collaboration and why it’s particularly special.
“He put his all into it,” he told Beats 1. “It wasn’t just a random Kendrick Lamar verse, it was something special because again, I don’t like to say this all the time, but we’ve known each other for a while and it’s crazy how we started connecting on this record.”
