Rihanna is putting her best foot forward.
The multi-faceted superstar will be honored with the 2016 Shoe of the Year by Footwear News for her FENTY PUMA Creeper sneakers. The 30th FN Achievement Awards will take place on Nov. 29 at IAC Headquarters in New York City.
“In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined an honor like ‘shoe of the year,'” said Rihanna. “It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper.”
Shoe of the Year, which is measured by “retail sales, consumer feedback, social media prowess and overall buzz,” is a highly-coveted award. Previous recipients include Stan Smith and Kanye West, who won the 2015 Shoe of the Year for his Yeezy Boost 350.
FN’s editorial director Michael Atmore said Bad Gal is the perfect person to get it this year.
“Like Stan Smith and Kanye West, Rihanna made a statement shoe that drove global excitement and generated huge sales,” he said. “Rihanna and Puma pushed the market in a new direction with an overnight sensation that has real legs.”
Rihanna is also hard at work with her other projects. Recently, she and Sarah Paulson started filming Ocean’s Eight, in which RiRi will be sporting some dreadlocks.
