New Music: Alessia Cara - 'How Far I'll Go'

  /  10.28.2016

Alessia Cara lends her powerful pipes to “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s animated film Moana.

Written by Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda, the empowering anthem allows the Canadian songstress to deliver outstanding vocals about overcoming adversity to reach for goals.

“See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me,” she sings. “And no one knows, how far it goes / If the wind on my sail on the sea stays behind me / One day I’ll know, if I go there’s just no telling how far I’ll go.”

Moana, featuring voice work from Nicole Scherzinger and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, hits theaters Nov. 23.

This is yet another standout from Alessia’s big year in 2016. A song with a message, the cut only adds to the young singer’s musical mission.

“I would want [fans] to feel something, to be honest,” she told Rap-Up last month. “If my music is just fun to listen to but you don’t feel affected by it or you don’t feel connected in any way, then I feel like there’d be no point in me making any music.”
