Azealia Banks and RZA connect.
The Harlem MC has announced a new recording deal that matches her up with the Wu-Tang Clan legend.
“I’m FINALLY getting a record deal :),” Banks wrote on Facebook. “I’m signing with RZA. He and I have an excellent work chemistry. Filming Coco with him was loads of fun!! Now I get to make music with him!!! Business and Pleasure is imminent.”
As Azealia mentioned, she and RZA were able to work together on the film Coco, which has yet to be released. When the Ruler Zig-Zag-directed movie was announced, Bobby Digital praised his star.
“I’m extremely excited and vigorously inspired to be working with Azealia Banks in my new directorial installment,” he said. “Producer Paul Hall and I have assembled a cool and eclectic cast to surround Azealia. Our story, which is set in today’s contemporary youth culture, will bring a new voice to cinema that needs to be heard.”
It’s been a year of ups and downs for Banks, who dropped Slay-Z in March and has since been involved in a slew of social media-related controversy.
In the meantime, RZA has also been plotting a new release. Recently, he revealed a mysterious web post for The Golden Dragon Rises, which could be his next solo album. The project is set to drop Oct. 19.
Azealia’s next album, Business and Pleasure, has no release date, but as she revealed in the statement, is “imminent.”
