Meek Mill is mourning the death of his cousin, 21-year-old Angelo Colon, who was shot and killed in Philadelphia on Tuesday (Sept. 13).

The Maybach Music Group rapper shared his grief on Instagram last night, reflecting on his own new path.

“Watching my family die to these philly streets,” he wrote. “Probation is the only thing that got me tied to come coming back here so frequent!! My mission is to save my family from these streets and change the mindframe of all my lil cousins growing up in it!!!! #RIPLO hurt me to see you in this same spot lifeless!”

TMZ reports that Colon was shot in the head and pronounced dead on the scene.

Colon was an aspiring rapper who went by Lo. Earlier this year, he released a music video for the song “Got That Bag.”

In July, Meek also denounced violence with a message on Instagram. “AFTER DC4 I won’t continue to rap about extreme violence,” he wrote. “But I will remain to let my people know in these terrible environments to adapt and survive at any cost because US BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WAR WITH OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM IN REAL LIFE.”
