New Music: Sia feat. Kendrick Lamar - 'The Greatest'
Sia and Kendrick Lamar are “The Greatest” on their new powerhouse collaboration.
“I’m free to be the greatest here tonight,” sings Sia. “Don’t give up, I won’t give up.”
Meanwhile, Cornrow Kenny only adds to the motivational theme.
“Hey, I am the truth,” he rhymes. “Hey, I am the wisdom of the fallen, I’m the youth / Hey, I am the greatest / Hey, this is the proof / Hey, I work hard, pray hard, pay dues / Hey, I transform with pressure / I’m hands-on with effort / I fell twice before / My bounce back was special.”
The uplifting track is accompanied by a stirring music video. Co-directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, the clip stars teen dancer Maddie Ziegler, who appeared in Sia’s videos for “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart,” and “Cheap Thrills.” However, the video does not include Kendrick or his verse.
The video and the song’s cover art serves as a tribute to the victims of this year’s tragic Orlando shooting. Ziegler wears rainbow makeup on her cheeks, while several dancers fall to the ground at once with a backdrop that appears to be riddled with bullet holes.
