Vince Staples’ Prima Donna has arrived.

Still simmering from last year’s critically-acclaimed Summertime ’06, the Long Beach spitter unleashes a 7-track effort filled with street-wise stanzas. Arriving one day early through an Apple Music exclusive, the EP features A$AP Rocky and Kilo Kish, with production from No I.D., DJ Dahi, and James Blake.

Prior to unleashing the EP in full, Vince premiered “Smile” as a Beats 1 “World Record.” It finds him reflecting on finances and inner peace.

“Money comes and goes,” he raps on the track. “So money not my motive no more / I made enough to know / I never make enough for my soul / I turned my back on my friends / I turned my back on my home / I left the streets where I’ve grown / To chase the yellow brick road.”

According to Vince, Prima Donna was inspired in part by The Great Gatsby, past material, and, yes, the gang lifestyle. Just don’t expect too much of that in the future. “I don’t like to talk about that kind of stuff no more,” he told Zane Lowe.
