DJ Khaled is bringing major keys to the MTV VMAs.
The chart-topping producer will host the 2016 “MTV VMA Pre-Show” live from New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. He will be joined by MTV2’s Charlamagne Tha God and rapper Lizzo.
But Khaled’s work won’t stop there. He will also serve as a correspondent during the main event and he’s even created a remix of the VMA theme song “Do Your Thing” by Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band.

“The VMAs is a show I’ve always wanted to be a part of and I’m a big fan of it,” Khaled told Billboard. “For me to be involved in the pre-show as well as the main show, I’m excited. Put it this way — expect nothing but greatness and also expect the unexpected because when you got Khaled on the bill, ratings go extra high.”
“I came from a garage with turntables, drum machines and a lot of records, and just to come up in the music game and now, be part of the VMAs, is amazing,” he added. “It’s gonna be something that I been working hard to be on so hard work is paying off.”
In addition to Khaled, Alessia Cara, Jidenna, and Lukas Graham will all hit the red carpet for performances prior to Sunday’s big show.
Live from New York, the VMAs will feature performances by Britney Spears, G-Eazy, Future, Nick Jonas, Ty Dolla $ign, and this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Rihanna.
