The Game and Snoop Dogg Host Gang Summit

  /  07.18.2016

The Game, Snoop Dogg, and Problem continue their quest for peace.

After meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck twice within the last month, the rappers and city officials teamed up for a gang summit over the weekend.

The event was held on Sunday (Jul. 17) at a South L.A. community center where a few hundred gang members peacefully gathered to hear speakers discuss the importance of unity.

“You know, it’s like a bus going through the city, a bus of love and a bus of positivity,” Game told The Associated Press. “We want to keep the doors open. We want everybody get on the bus.”

Game and others spoke at the event, calling for change and peace. According to the Documentary spitter, his newfound understanding of this issue was inspired by his foster brother’s recent death in Los Angeles.

Mayor Garcetti appeared in a video on Game’s social channels celebrating peace in the city. “Peace in our streets,” he said in a clip. “Peace right now. Everybody coming together. Black, Brown, Crip, Blood, no matter. Come together now.”

Police Chief Beck called this a “great first step,” especially after the police shootings that have plagued the country for the last few weeks. Just before the meeting took place, three officers were shot and killed in Baton Rouge.

Last week, Problem spoke with Rap-Up about why he teamed up with Game and Snoop in a meeting with the mayor and police chief. “What else can we do?” he asked at the time. “Sit here and watch each other die? You gotta do something, man.”
