Eve, Ashanti, & Keke Palmer Pay Tribute to Salt-N-Pepa at 'Hip Hop Honors'

  /  07.12.2016

Salt-N-Pepa’s here and in effect.

Following its six-year hiatus, VH1’s “Hip Hop Honors” returned to celebrate Salt-N-Pepa on a night where Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, and Queen Latifah were also honored.

Salt, Pepa, and Spinderella earned their tributes from Eve, Ashanti, Dreezy, and Keke Palmer, who performed a medley of “Shoop,” “Whatta Man,” and “Push It,” sporting classic looks that the trio made popular throughout their career.

Upon accepting the honor, the trio delivered a speech in which they acknowledged the historical contributions of women in hip-hop, including Roxanne Shante and Lady B. “If it wasn’t for you,” said Salt, “we wouldn’t be able to do this.” They also discussed gun violence, unity, sexism, and family while reflecting on their 30-year career.
