Janelle Monáe, D'Angelo, The Roots, & Sheila E. to Honor Prince at BET Awards

After last month’s Billboard Music Awards tribute featuring Madonna and Stevie Wonder, BET is planning its own salute to the Purple One at the 2016 BET Awards.

The network has called upon Janelle Monáe, Sheila E., The Roots, and D’Angelo for the star-studded tribute, which will take place June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The homages will be spread throughout the show and will include more performers. According to a press release, these are just the first acts announced.

Hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, the BET Awards are also set to include performances by Alicia Keys, Maxwell, and more.

Prince died of an opioid overdose on April 21. He was 57.

Since his death, the Purple One has been honored by several artists, including Beyoncé, Madonna, and Rihanna.
