New Music: Mario - 'I Need More'
Make way for Mario. The R&B singer, who teamed up with Rick Ross on “Forever” last year, returns to the scene with “I Need More,” a trap-inspired single.
Over hard-hitting production, Mario sings about “fucking up some commas” and needing “more than these bottles.” The dance-ready track is edgy and perhaps a sign of what’s to come on his forthcoming independent LP, Paradise Cove.
The album marks a new stage in Mario’s career, one that he feels is providing more freedom in his music. “I found myself having to face my own darkness in order to step into the next phase of my purpose,” he said. “It inspired certain sounds and textures that you wouldn’t get from a label-produced Mario album.
“We were able to create a concept, lyrically and sonically, that expresses exactly what I was feeling: the void,” he continued. “Even in the midst of manifesting our wildest desires and material gains, it still ain’t enough. You need more: truth, love, happiness, freedom.”
