Maxwell Performs 'Lake by the Ocean' on 'Late Show'

  /  05.05.2016

Maxwell dives in. Performing what Stephen Colbert described as his “first original material on TV in seven years,” the R&B veteran delivered “Lake by the Ocean” on “The Late Show.”

Donning all white, Maxwell smoothly crooned through his latest single, backed by a band and background singers. “Why do I live inside of you, baby?” he sang with shimmering lights flashing all around him. “Wanna be every part of you.”

The mellow track is the lead single off Maxwell’s long-awaited blackSUMMERS’night album, which arrives July 1. Coincidentally, that’s the same day he is set to co-headline the ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans.

Watch Maxwell make a splash on late night.
