From Beyoncé’s latex dress to Kanye’s blue contacts, the stars took some major fashion risks at the 2016 Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 2). This year’s theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, and many embodied it, donning some futuristic and daring looks.

Nicki Minaj buckled up in a black Moschino dress by Jeremy Scott, while fellow fashionista Zendaya transformed into a modern Cleopatra in a Michael Kors gown and bob. Lady Gaga channeled her inner punk rocker in a look she claimed took “10 minutes” to put together. Meanwhile, Rita Ora’s Vera Wang creation was from a galaxy far, far away.

Ciara donned custom H&M and silver hair, while her ex Future skipped the carpet and headed inside, where he held court with Nas, Wiz Khalifa, Carmelo Anthony, and Odell Beckham Jr.

The couples had some fun matching their outfits. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian both donned futuristic Balmain looks. Mrs. West described herself as a “blingy sexy robot,” while ‘Ye sported ripped jeans and a tee under a beaded Balmain jacket and ice blue contact lenses.

Kim’s armored dress even got approval from North, who told her mother, “I need that dress!”

Kendall and Kylie Jenner were also part of the Balmain gang, as was Kylie’s boyfriend Tyga, who made his Met Gala debut in a studded jacket by Olivier Rousteing.

The fashionable Smith siblings, Willow and Jaden, held hands as they turned heads on the carpet—Willow in Chanel and her bro in Louis Vuitton.

As always, Beyoncé made a grand entrance, donning a latex number by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. But Queen Bey’s outfit was not a hit with everyone on social media. Meanwhile, her sister Solange brought some sunshine in a ruffled yellow David Laport creation.

The fellas also cleaned up nicely. Nas donned a Public School tuxedo, The Weeknd brought his hot date Bella Hadid, and Wiz Khalifa was fresh in a cream Rag & Bone suit.
