The Game Pays Tribute to Prince on 'Rest in Purple'

  /  04.22.2016

The Game salutes Prince. Following in the footsteps of his peers who honored the Purple One on social media, the Compton rapper has released “Rest in Purple,” a tribute to the late legend featuring Lorine Chia.

“Why everybody gotta die so damn soon?” asks Game on the BONGO ByTheWay production. “All these legends dying, God gotta be running out of room / How he die? Don’t nobody even know yet / All I know is I ain’t ready to go yet.”

Game also took to Instagram to remember Prince. “@Prince was such a huge inspiration to my life from a child watching #PurpleRain til the time I met him at Universal Music in 2006,” he said. “I was a fan then & I am a fan now ! His death was untimely & tragic… I’m sure the world is saddened as I was when I woke up to the news today.”

After Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, Game also released a tribute record featuring Usher, Chris Brown, Diddy, Mario Winans, and Boyz II Men called “Better on the Other Side.”
