Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as the legendary musician Prince, has died of unknown causes. He was 57.
TMZ reports that the music icon was found dead at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota on Thursday morning (Apr. 21) and a rep for Prince has also confirmed the news.
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” said the singer’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure. “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
It is unclear whether Prince’s medical emergency in recent weeks is related to his passing. On April 15, the singer was forced to make an urgent landing in Illinois due to a health scare. He performed the next day, saying that he was fine. His team told TMZ that it was due to the flu at the time.
