Video: Diggy Simmons - 'The Climate (Freestyle)'

  /  03.18.2016

Diggy Simmons has a lot on his mind. After unleashing a series of freestyle videos in recent months, the 20-year-old MC delivers another one for “The Climate,” a cut that addresses police brutality.

In the black-and-white clip, directed by Zac Evan, Diggy raps about his growth as a rapper, but also takes a moment for a more serious conversation, referencing the deaths of Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Laquan McDonald, and Eric Garner.

“Them sirens get to ringing out,” Simmons rhymes over boom-gap-inspired production, under a lightbulb installation. “I know this ain’t what the King had a dream about.”

Evan also directed Diggy’s “N.Y. State of Mind” visual last month, and “The 2nd Coming” vid in January.
