Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Ed Sheeran proves once again that he’s a hip-hop head by performing an acapella version of Eminem’s “Criminal.”

In a brief promo for France’s Clique TV, Ed becomes Em Sheeran, delivering Shady’s controversial bars off The Marshall Mathers LP track.

This homage shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The British singer, who once told Rap-Up about his love for hip-hop, has been open about his Marshall Mathers stanning for years.

He covered the Detroit MC’s “Lose Yourself” and “The Real Slim Shady” before, and it seems Eminem has had an even greater impact on Sheeran.

In June, the “A Team” crooner said Marshall actually helped him get over a speech impediment.

“My dad bought me The Marshall Mathers LP when I was 9 years old, not knowing what was on it,” he explained, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I learned every word, back to front, by the time I was 10. He raps very fast and melodically and percussively, and it helped me get rid of my stutter.”

Eminem hasn’t worked with Sheeran yet, but other rappers including Lupe Fiasco and Macklemore have. He also reportedly recorded several tracks for a joint project with The Game.
