Rae Sremmurd has fielded criticism in the past for their lyricism, but their skills were on full display during an epic 20-minute freestyle at Tim Westwood’s radio show on Capital Xtra!
Slim Jimmy set it off with a few clever one-liners (“Money so old swear to God it’s growing mold”), passing the ball to Swae Lee who similarly dropped bars about his cash flow (“Cash in my pocket, yeah you know I make bail / Old money on me yeah them 100s fuckin’ stale”).
They also addressed comments made by Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, who blasted Complex for ranking their debut album SremmLife so high on their year-end best albums list and claimed that they don’t write their own lyrics. “We ain’t worried about it,” said Swae. “People want to express their opinions, it’s his opinion, he good for it.”
While on the show, Jimmy confirmed that SremmLife 2 will be released in February 2016. “It’s gonna be banger after banger after slapper,” he said.
