Drake Cheers on Serena Williams at U.S. Open
Drake was courtside as Serena Williams faced off in the second women’s semifinal at the U.S. Open on Friday. Dressed in a satin green varsity jacket, the 6 God stood up numerous times to cheer on his rumored girlfriend from the stands.
But he didn’t bring her much luck. The 21-time major champion suffered a surprising defeat to Italy’s Roberta Vinci after three sets, ending her bid to become the fourth female player in history to win all four Grand Slam singles titles in one calendar year.
Fans turned to social media to blame Drake for the loss. “The Drake backlash right now is a sight to behold,” tweeted MSNBC host Christopher Hayes.
During Serena’s match, Drake’s hit “Hold On, We’re Going Home” was played, which caused the crowd to respond with cheers.
Just last month, Drake and Serena were spotted making out at a Cincinnati restaurant after she won the WTA tournament.
