Kanye West Announces Bid for Presidency at VMAs

  /  08.30.2015

Watch out Clinton and Trump. Kanye West has his eye on the White House. The rapper announced his candidacy for the next President of the United States at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

While accepting the Video Vanguard Award from Taylor Swift, West reflected on snatching the mic from Swift’s hand six years ago. He also called out MTV for using him and Swift as a ploy to boost ratings.

But the biggest shocker of his nearly 13-minute speech came at the end when he announced that he’s running for president.

“And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” he said before dropping the mic and walking off stage to hugs from Kim Kardashian and Swift.
