New Music: August Alsina feat. Lil Wayne - 'Why I Do It'

Following the remix to “Kissin’ on My Tattoos,” August Alsina reunites with fellow New Orleans native Lil Wayne for his latest single “Why I Do It.” It’s got a butter-soft, horn-driven instrumental that matches Alsina’s smooth R&B vocals. As for Wayne’s verse, he may have just come up with the new “fanute” when he tells us to stop “boogling” on him. Try getting that one out of your head.

This hasn’t been the easiest year for Alsina—he collapsed while performing and was briefly in a coma, and then required surgery to prevent his left eye from becoming blind, but he’s back in the studio readying his sophomore album.

As for Weezy, he will reunite with the Hot Boys at the first-ever Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans on Friday.
