Carter 6 may be coming before Tha Carter V. While Lil Wayne’s album gets caught up in legal drama, Young Thug is moving forward with his own plans. The Atlanta rapper has posted what appears to be the cover and release date for his debut album.
The Instagram pic shows a shirtless Thugger looking down under a spotlight with the words “Carter Six” written below him. The photo was captioned “#c6otw 4/17,” implying that the album will arrive on Friday, April 17. He also tweeted the 4/17 date.
The controversial Carter 6 title is an homage to Lil Wayne. “I just feel like I’m that big,” Young Thug told DJ Whoo Kid. “‘Cause [Wayne] feel like after Tha Carter V, he ain’t gon’ make no more music ’cause he feel like can’t nobody make no music like that.”
Last week, Thugger dropped a video for “Check,” while two new records including the London On Da Track-produced “Beat It” and “Halftime” featuring Jacquees have surfaced online in recent weeks.
