New Music: Charles Hamilton feat. Rita Ora - 'NY Raining'

  /  03.09.2015

While the ink dries on his new deal with Republic Records, Charles Hamilton kicks off his comeback with his new single “NY Raining.” Over the soulful piano-driven beat, Charles serenades a special lady, while Rita Ora provides the shimmering hook.

The Harlem rapper, songwriter, and producer stepped away from the spotlight after being dropped from Interscope in 2009. In an interview with Billboard, he revealed that he was suffering from undiagnosed bipolar disorder. “I didn’t leave my house, I just made music all the time. I was fighting depression—I shut myself in,” he said.

The song will be featured on the March 18 season finale of “Empire” and on the Season 1 soundtrack, which also includes new music from Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson.

Hamilton is also readying his debut album for release later this year.
