D'Angelo

The wait is over. Fourteen years since the critically-acclaimed Voodoo, the elusive D’Angelo returns with his third album Black Messiah. On the eve of its release, R&B’s prodigal son premieres the first single “Sugah Daddy” featuring his band, The Vanguard. The funky horn-heavy jam, which debuted as part of Red Bull’s 20 Before 15 series, was first played live on D’Angelo’s 2012 tour.

Fans took to social media to celebrate his return. “The King is back,” wrote one, while another said, “This is amazing! Well worth the wait.”

D’Angelo will preview Black Messiah at a listening session in New York today followed by the album’s release on Monday.

In early 2015, D’Angelo will embark on his “Second Coming Tour” throughout Europe.
