Prince and Rita Ora

Rita Ora is getting down with pop royalty. The British sensation has recorded a rap song with Prince.

The iconic singer invited the Minnesota Star Tribune to Paisley Park to hear some of the new music off his upcoming album including a collaboration with Ora.

While he didn’t reveal a title, the newspaper describes the record as “a rare rap song on which the music was as aggressive and menacing as the rapping.”

Prince explained the urgency of releasing the track because with Ora “time is money.”

He also previewed a “joyful ballad” called “This Could Be Us,” which was inspired by the #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlayin meme of him and Apollonia riding on a motorcycle in the 1984 movie Purple Rain.

Ora previously spoke about working with the Purple One. “We did a few tracks together,” she told Paper. “I flew to Minneapolis and went to Paisley Park, which is like his iconic studios and we just made music. I was there for a week. It was the best thing I have ever done in my life.”

In addition to Prince, she has been in the studio with Diplo, DJ Mustard, and Macklemore for her sophomore album, due this fall.

Earlier this year, Prince re-signed with Warner Bros. Records, where he plans to release his new album along with a 30th anniversary edition of Purple Rain.
