Ed Sheeran

After opening up about his relationship with Ellie Goulding on “Don’t,” Ed Sheeran bares his heart once more on “Afire Love,” his touching dedication to his grandfather, who passed away last year.

The British singer recounts his grandfather’s 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s on the emotional midtempo, which he released to iTunes today.

“My father told me, son / It’s not his fault he doesn’t know your face / And you’re not the only one,” he sings before a choir joins him for the “hallelujah” finale.

He plans to release a new song each day this week leading up to the release of his sophomore album x on June 23.
